Strong. Light. Aerodynamic. Hand-made.

Optimized for balance: durability, weight, lateral rigidity, driving and torsional rigidity and aerodynamics…because everything effects everything.

The D2 Rim is Shimano’s first fully committed effort to develop an aerodynamically superior wheel.

OptBal spoke system features 21 spokes – 14 on the drive side and 7 on the non-drive side. This rebalances spoke tension which enhances wheel rigidity and strength.

Together with the Extra-Wide Flange – it delivers world-class torsional and lateral rigidity and boosted power-transfer efficiency

Shimano wheel-sets are manually crafted 100% in-house.

Designed to produce the ultimate ride experience.

Ride on!

Highlights from the Shimano 2013 Tech Seminar in Toronto

Shimano Dealer Tour 2013 (cropped)

Toronto Shimano Dealer Tech seminar last Friday was a success!  Despite the snow storm, there were many of our authorized Shimano dealers who attended the event from the greater Toronto area.  Owners, mechanics and sales staff came out  to learn more about the new cycling gear Shimano has for their customers for 2013!

Pen Pye (Shimano Canada’s head tech guy) offered knowledge and insight about what was new with Shimano, PRO and Pearl iZUMi  – Product Knowledge, Mechanic’s tech tips, a little component history and as always, a little humor.

2013 Shimano and PRO product highlights

Just in case you missed checking out the 2013 Shimano  line up at Expocycle this past weekend, here are a few highlights.

The three biggest “WOW – Shimano did it again!” highlights.

JRHunterSports Di2 2013 Shimano Group

“WOW – Shimano did it again – 2013”

1. Dura Ace 9070 Di2

  • Lighter, smaller, cleaner looking and more modular that allows for more options and more personalized settings for each rider.

2. Dura Ace 9000

  • Lighter smoother operation
  • Faster shorter throw for the front shifter with dramatic reduction in effort necessary to shift.
  • Smoother acting and more powerful brakes due to new PTFE cable coating and duel symmetric pivot brake calipers

3. Shimano Road shoes go on a diet and have a new Dynalast sole

  • New carbon and resin Dynalast soles not only make the shoes lighter than previous generations but help reduce fatigue while riding.
  • Great looking uppers and a choice of colours.

“Breaking loss is the unwanted loss of power that occurs between the crank angles of 200° and 360° in the back spin direction of a pedal stroke. Shoes incorporating Shimano Dynalast help to reduce breaking loss by promoting smother more efficient pedaling. If you want to reduce fatigue, get the most out of your legs, and go the extra mile, ride Shimano Dynalast.”

ExpoCycle 2012

EXPOCYCLE 2012 (Sept 8-10)- the trade show for the cycling industry here in Canada, is back in Toronto for the first time in a long time ( about a decade ).  It is an opportunity for our independent bicycle retailers to see the 2013 product that is available for them to buy for the upcoming season.  These are just samples, but they give the buyers a chance to get up close – giving them the opportunity to touch, feel and put a visual together of what will be on display in their store next year.

Booking season is tough.  Retailers have to make tough decisions in this tight economy when it comes to purchasing their inventory.  Expocycle not only gives them the opportunity to see the inventory, but to also talk with their sales reps and other manufacturing tech representatives that can give them the extra information needed to make an educated decision.

BTAC (Bicycle Trade Association of Canada) is the group that organizes EXPOCYCLE.  Other opportunities that this show offers is the chance to attend free retail and cycling business specific seminars.  Topics about marketing, hiring, inventory management and more.  See details here.

Recently the show has added a PUBLIC day.  For all of our consumers, this is an exciting opportunity to see what is coming out in 2013.  Thinking of buying a new groupo?  Want to see the new DuraAce, talk to the Shimano tech guys?  Ask questions, see how it works?  This is the chance.   Before you ask..NO – you can’t buy anything that day.  Register for your VIP Pass today.

Visit JR Hunter Sports – John, Jeff & Laura –  at the Shimano / Pearl iZUMi booth.  If you are a retailer?  Think about bringing some of your VIP customers on PUBLIC day and show them around.

Pearl iZUMi EMotion Running Shoes

For our RUN and TRIATHLON retailers – Pearl iZUMi will have their new EMotion Running shoe collection on display.  Don’t miss it!
